If you join us in the Sunshine Coast you will experience another of Ravel’s most famous works; "Pavane pour une infante défunte" or "Pavane for a Dead Princess" which was also originally composed as a piano work while he was studying at the Paris Conservatoire. He later orchestrated the work, giving the lead melody to the horn.
In Brisbane we are joined by soloist Reuben Tsang. to perform Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major which described by the composer as not aiming to be profound, but rather to entertain. As such, there are jazz and Basque folk music influences to be found in the work.
Described as a pianist with “technical wizardry and versatility” (Sounds Like Sydney), Cairns-born pianist Reuben Tsang is guided by Natasha Vlassenko OAM at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and regularly performs in recitals, festivals and competitions.
